Documentary Film and Television Program Themes

Theme: Arctic Adventure

Our expedition and film will do more than just bring awareness of the plight of Arctic Ocean habitats to the masses, but will also incorporate scientific research that will inform scientists of the pace and extent of climate change in this precious ecosystem. We have partnered with the non-profit organization Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation and the University of Alaska Fairbanks to collect data that will advance awareness and understanding of pace of climate change in the Arctic region. The film will highlight evidence of climate change observed during our trip and include commentary from climate change experts.

Sub-theme 1: Health, Fitness and Inspired Living

Our theme of inspired living is fueled by food, fitness and fun. As such, we will chronicle our training regimen, meals, and team preparation in the months leading up to the row. An on-board filmmaker/rower will document daily life aboard the boat and will tell an inspirational story of men overcoming physical and mental obstacles through careful preparation, teamwork and commitment to their goals. The film will follow the crew through the post-row phase of the expedition where they will share their experiences and learning in the press and in schools, inspiring children to get outdoors, think bravely, and make healthy life decisions.

Sub-theme 2: Innovation, Teamwork and Challenging the Impossible

The Arctic Row expedition is designed to break new ground in the exploration world. Doing so will require innovative equipment, logistics, meals, and sponsors. All equipment will be stress tested during a winter training expedition across Lake Michigan, which like the row will be fully documented. Our Arctic crossing will inevitably stretch our bodies and gear to their limits. The film’s storylines will follow us through the shock of unforeseen challenges and the thrill of overcoming adversity as a team.
